			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In Denmark we are brought up by the “social democratic” doctrine, “united we stand, divided we fall”, why even our liberalists dare not wholeheartedly challenge “the collective”. We respect democracy and each other and will avoid conflict at any cost- and should one of our “disciples” wander astray we will force him back using our all mighty “<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jante_Law" target="_blank">Jantelov</a>”!<img class="alignright size-full wp-image-284" title="responsibility" src="http://madsdahl.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/responsibility.jpg?w=497" alt=""   /></p>
<p>It is therefore only natural that <em>coaching</em> has become such a popular management and leadership tool in our culture. We do not need to know about the moral or the values of the coach for him to succeed thereby completely eliminating the risk of <em>conflict</em>.</p>
<p>But is leadership not about values? Should a true leader not offer direction based on her vision, her values, her experience or her moral? Is part of being a leader not the risk of making mistakes- the risk of conflict?</p>
<p>A leader must have the courage and self-confidence to display her own true colors, her own true values and should of course do so during a “coaching session”, rather than placing the responsibility with the coachee.</p>
<p>So stop coaching and begin leading!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Jeg påstod forleden, da jeg blev interviewet til en artikel i <a href="http://madsdahl.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/museklik.pdf" target="_blank">Jyllands Posten</a> om forbrugeradfærd, at den moderne forbruger forventer at den &#8220;lokale butik&#8221; kan og vil konkurrere på pris med &#8220;e-shoppen&#8221;-<strong> <em>og stadig tilbyde ekstra service og support</em>? <a href="http://madsdahl.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/udsalg.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-264" title="Sale" src="http://madsdahl.files.wordpress.com/2012/01/udsalg.jpg?w=300&#038;h=200" alt="" width="300" height="200" /></a></strong></p>
<p>Det er selvfølgelig ikke muligt, hvorfor denne tendens får økonomiske konsekvenser for detailhandlen generelt men også  for lokalsamfundene, hvor butikkerne lukker.</p>
<p>I <a href="http://www.ft.com/home/europe" target="_blank">Financial Times</a> beskrev Robert Reich forleden, under overskriften ”<a href="http://www.ft.com/intl/cms/s/0/2f0babbe-3e30-11e1-ac9b-00144feabdc0.html#axzz1kYbrrBrp" target="_blank">We are all going to hell in a shopping baske</a>t”, tendensen således:</p>
<p><em>”Modern technologies allow us to shop in real time, often worldwide, for the lowest prices, highest quality, and best returns. Consumers and investors have never been so empowered”.          </em></p>
<p>Det tankevækkende er, at Robert Reich går skridtet videre og forklarer, at denne prisfokusering tvinger producenterne til at søge til de områder i verden, hvor produktionsomkostningerne er lavest, eller som han skriver:</p>
<p><em>“…great deals offend common decency. We may get a low price or high return because a producer has cut costs by hiring children in South Asia or Africa who work 12 hours a day, seven days a week, or by subjecting people to death-defying working conditions”</em>.</p>
<p>Så vores asociale og prisfokuserede forbrugeradfærd påvirker ikke bare købmanden nede om hjørnet men får også miljømæssige og globale konsekvenser.</p>
<p>Spørgsmålet er så om værdibaseret salg er svaret?</p>

<p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style:normal;">Den dygtige eksterne coach træder ind i en neutral og faciliterende hjælperrolle, hvor hun formår at etablere et </span><em>magtfrit</em><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-style:normal;"> og fortroligt rum, som fokuspersonen føler sig tryg i.</span></p>
<p><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-227" title="coaching" src="http://madsdahl.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/coaching1.jpg?w=300&#038;h=233" alt="" width="300" height="233" /></p>
<p>I disse <em>magtfrie</em> og trygge rammer arbejder den eksterne coach med at finde og frigøre fokuspersonens ressourcer. Med andre ord kan den eksterne coach hjælpe fokuspersonen til <em>selv</em> at finde frem til ”løsningen”- til selv at nå i mål.</p>
<p>Mange moderne ledere forsøger at adoptere coaching som ledelsesværktøj, men finder ofte ud af, at det er umuligt for en leder at skabe et <em>magtfrit rum</em>, hvor fokuspersonen, som i dette tilfælde er (nærmeste) medarbejder, kan føle sig tryg.</p>
<p>Cand.mag. &amp; cand.psych. Thorkil Molly Søholm og cand.mag. Asbjørn Molly beskriver i deres <a href="http://www.attractor.dk/laer%20mere/artikler/~/media/D14CB4B3E2874B72BCDA57F74CE8E866.ashx" target="_blank">artikel</a>, skrevet på baggrund af bogen <a href="http://www.saxo.com/dk/item/ledelsesbaseret-coaching-indbundet.aspx?kb=1&amp;gclid=CKDKuYDjv6wCFQK_zAodu3MZqw" target="_blank">Ledelsesbaseret Coaching</a>, at de problematiske forhold inden for ledelsesbaseret coaching er:</p>
<ul>
<li>Hvad gør jeg, når jeg ikke er tilfreds med kvaliteten af den løsning/handling, som medarbejderen definerer sig frem til i coachingsamtalen? Og hvad gør jeg, hvis jeg får indblik i, at medarbejderen ikke arbejder på et acceptabelt niveau?</li>
<li>Hvad gør jeg, når det emne, medarbejderen gerne vil tale om, ikke er relevant i forhold til de indsatsområder og målsætninger, vi har i afdelingen?</li>
<li>Hvad gør jeg med mine holdninger og min særviden om det emne, jeg coacher medarbejderen på? Mine medarbejdere er vant til, at jeg har stærke holdninger til vores arbejde, og de bliver mistænksomme, når jeg kommer til en samtale og kun stiller spørgsmål …</li>
<li>Hvad gør jeg med de mål, jeg har for medarbejderens arbejde? Og med den feedback, jeg har til ham?</li>
<li>Fortrolighedskriteriet: Hvad gør jeg, når jeg i en coachingsamtale får noget at vide, der har afgørende betydning for arbejdsplanlægningen, andre medarbejdere, kundeforhold el.lign., som jeg må handle i forhold til?</li>
<li>Hvad med emner af privat karakter? Kan/skal vi arbejde med personlige problemer?</li>
<li>Det kan ikke lade sig gøre at etablere et magtfrit rum!</li>
</ul>
<p>Forfatterne konkluderer herefter at: ”Det kan simpelthen ikke lade sig gøre for lederen at træne sig til at skabe denne stemning, eksempelvis via coachende kommunikationsteknikker, uden at det får et skær af manipulation over sig”.</p>
<p>Hvor er jeg dog enig!</p>
<p>Hvorfor arbejder forfatterne så videre med begrebet ledelsesbaseret coaching når vi ledere, hverken kan eller vil:</p>
<ul>
<li>Skabe et magtfrit rum</li>
<li>Undgå at fastsætte og påvirke målet</li>
<li>Tilsidesætte egne erfaringer</li>
<li>Bruge (for meget) tid på personlige problemer</li>
</ul>
<p>Drop ledelsesbaseret coaching over for dine (nærmeste) medarbejdere og brug et af de mange andre fremragende ledelsesværktøjer du har i bæltet-  og skulle dine medarbejdere have brug for coaching så tilbyd dem en ekstern coach, der kan skabe det nødvendige magtfrie rum!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>”Hvor længe vil du som leder se verden gennem dine egne briller” spørger Søren Munk retorisk i sin <a href="http://crn.dk/art/200026/munks-klumme-er-du-en-go-039-leder" target="_blank">klumme</a> ”Er du en go’ leder” i <a href="http://www.crn.dk/" target="_blank">Computer Reseller News</a>. Fornuftigt argumenterer Søren Munk for at den gode leder skal kunne skabe resultater gennem andre, ved at se virkeligheden gennem medarbejdernes briller og anerkende, at gode resultater skabes af teams med medlemmer, der har forskellige kompetencer og kvalifikationer og som motiveres individuelt.<img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-207" title="3D-glasses" src="http://madsdahl.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/3d-glasses-red-cyan-paper1.jpg?w=240&#038;h=240" alt="" width="240" height="240" /></p>
<p>Denne tilgang til ledelse er i dag accepteret i den vestlige verdens ledelseslitteratur og danner vel også delvist grundlag for coaching, hvor man jo bl.a. ved dialog og forskellige spørgeteknikker netop forsøger at synliggøre kompetencer, kvalifikationer og motivationsgrundlag altså ved at ”se verden gennem medarbejderens briller”.</p>
<p>Denne argumentation er det svært at være uenig i om end jeg mener at den bliver for todimensionel.</p>
<p>At se gennem medarbejdernes briller vil nemlig begrænse visionen. Den go’ leder skal turde være visionær, turde gå imod strømmen og turde ignorere medarbejdernes angst for forandring. Den gode leder skal, som Søren Munk forklarer, være empatisk, men hun skal også være en visionær autoritet der inspirerer og derved ”sliber” medarbejdernes brilleglas så visionen bliver en de facto standard -også for alle andre.</p>
<p>Så i disse tider er det måske nærliggende at lederen ifører sig 3D-briller for derved at tilføje den ekstra dimension?</p>

Andersen"   />The “raison d’être” of relational marketing, value added selling and now social media is a strategic belief in the value of a strong customer relationship.</p>
<p>It is no longer “kosher” to be a goal orientated, result driven sales representative with an ego-drive the size of the new Porsche Boxster.</p>
<p>Therefor we teach sales people to develop their empathy, spend time on building customer relationship and train their ability to ask open ended questions and shut up and listen- in order to identify the need of the customer.</p>
<p>We do all this knowing that the sales cycle &#8211; from seed to harvest- hast just been prolonged.</p>
<p>The philosophy of a sales strategy that builds on strong customer relationship fits well with the Danish open minded-, social-, non-conflict seeking-, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jante_Law">Jantelovs</a>-based culture.</p>
<p>But show me the MONEY! What is the Return of Investment?</p>
<p>Show me, that the time and money you have spent on Social Media and building customer relations exceeds the traditional ego-driven-, Boxster driving-, Armani-suit wearing- transactional approach.</p>
<p>I feel like shouting: “BUT HE HASN&#8217;T GOT ANYTHING ON&#8221;!</p>

<p>Today we begin to realize that in order to compete and grow leaders must be able to exploit the social and cultural diversity found in a modern organization.</p>
<p>How Should <a href="http://www.arla.com/about-us/our-company/">Arla Foods</a> during the “<a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&amp;sid=aSsFmISwXDEM">Muhammad Crisis</a>” in 2006, protect their investments in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Yemen,  Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco etc., if not by exploiting the diverse cultural, social and religious competences found within their modern and complex organization?</p>
<p>Leaders should find strength and competitiveness in organizational diversity rather than trying to “create man in his own image”.</p>

<p>Christel Skousen Thrane, som bl.a. er journalist, direktør og en del af ligestillingsminister <a href="http://lykkefriis.dk/">Lykke Friis&#8217;</a> taskforce, beskriver i en <a href="http://borsen.dk/blogs/alle_blogs/vis_blog/7326834/1411/hvis-du-skal-til-tops-maa-du-kunne-spille-fodbold.html">artike</a>l i Børsen at de manglende kvinders tilstedeværelse i toppen af dansk erhvervsliv, skyldes at mændene er flasket op med ”spillet”, reglerne og mekanismerne for at nå til tops. Christel Skousen Thrane drager derudover en fin analogi til fodboldens verden og forklarer at piger ikke engang ved, hvornår der bliver delt kampkort ud, hvad det i praksis vil sige at gøre sig spilbar eller er trænet til at genkende oplagte chancer.</p>
<p>Christel Skousen Thrane konkluderer i sin artikel at løsningen på at få flere kvinder til at ”gå hele vejen” er hamrende banal. Virksomhederne skal blot foretage nogle basale (ind)greb, der giver alle medarbejderne en fair chance for at forstå spillereglerne og spille spillet aktivt…. <strong>hvis de har lyst.</strong></p>
<p>Hvis jeg skal blive i fodboldanalogien vil det sige, at Christel Skousen Thrane mener at vi får flere kvinder ”på holdet” blot ved at forklare fodboldens regler, taktik og formål….og lade dem træne- <strong>hvis de har lyst?</strong></p>
<p>Hvis mine sønner og niecer en dag skulle <strong>få lyst</strong> til at komme på førsteholdet i den lokale fodboldklub, mener jeg, at der er større chancer for succes ved at de blev trænet i fodboldens taktiske og tekniske finesser, spillets forståelse, finter og tunneller, fremfor at forsøge at tilpasse selve ”spillet” så det passer bedre til dem!</p>

<p>Today electronic channels such as e-mail, search engine optimization (SEO) and social media provide a new way for marketers and businesses alike to help choose, provide and communicate superior value.</p>
<p>However creating, maintaining and optimizing the online strategy takes a lot more effort than setting up a company Facebook page linked to the company e-mail.</p>

<p>As a Leader I believe in Empowerment and pushing responsibility down in the organization moving the “limelight” away from the leader towards the empowered employee.</p>
<p>There is no doubt in my mind that empowerment has a positive influence on organizational motivation and therefore productivity and results.</p>
<p>However, empowerment will move the focus away from the leader and will naturally dilute her “leadership brand”.</p>
<p>The successful leader is therefore facing a tough challenge finding the right balance between Empowerment and “Self-branding”.</p>

<p>The good (formal) manager must possess and master skills such as being analytical, organised &amp; structured and thrive within the pre-defined and somewhat <em>static</em> environment of a business organisation. He must be able to understand and maintain the “business” much like the car mechanic should be able to understand and maintain the car.</p>
<p>Trying to define leadership is much harder. I would argue that a leader must possess less tangible attributes such as charisma, experience, empathy and charm in order to lead his followers towards his visionary goal(s). At the same time I believe that leadership is a <em>process</em> that is influenced by the interaction between the leader, his followers and the situation-  and should therefore be regarded as such, rather than just a set of strong interpersonal skills.</p>
<p>The successful leader can therefore navigate, influence and lead a group towards accomplishing its goals within an <em>un-static</em> and <em>changing</em> environment while at the same time being influenced by them and the situation.</p>
